\nWe study the interaction between a firm’s financing and investment decisions
\nin a dynamic contingent claim model, where the firm has the options of debt
\nrestructuring privately and formal bankruptcy during the financial distress.
\nOur study shows that a decrease in the residual value at formal bankruptcy
\nenables the firm to be likely to prefer the debt with restructuring
\nprivately, and to decrease the option value of the project, which leads to
\nan increased debt issuance and a delayed investment. Our results fit well
\nwith empirical findings. This study is a joint work with Michi Nishihara
